Are you a dedicated and compassionate Senior Clinician Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB)
seeking a fulfilling opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a culturally diverse community? Pulse Staffing, in partnership with a leading healthcare provider, is seeking a talented Social Worker/Senior Psychologist/Occupational Therapist to join their team on Thursday Island.

The Senior Clinician Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) is accountable at an advanced practice level for the coordination of SEWB clinical services, including assessment, treatment and case management, promoting the health and wellbeing consumers across the lifespan and their families, within an integrated and collaborative recovery model of care that incorporates hospital and community components in different locations throughout the Torres and Cape region. This will include working within Indigenous communities within the Torres and Cape region. Additionally, this incorporates the delivery of senior clinical guidance, supervision, mentoring and capacity building to less experienced clinical staff where required.

Clinical responsibilities:

  • Provide high level culturally appropriate assessments, intervention and clinical consultancy services and advice to consumers across the lifespan, their families, communities, (particularly of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander origin) and other service providers, promoting a coordinated and effective service.
  • Deliver a range of high level of clinical interventions, including specialist discipline-specific interventions/ therapies, counselling, psycho education, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions that support work with consumers and families within an Indigenous context.
  • Work with consumers across the lifespan, their families and communities to promote recovery and community inclusion, and to access generic supports, opportunities and resources.
  • Assist consumers and families/supports to develop a comprehensive individual recovery plan; and facilitate the effective delivery, monitoring and evaluation of this plan.
  • To be able to operate with high level of autonomy in practice and provide leadership for community programs.
  • Provide leadership through effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work co-operatively and independently in a flexible and innovative multidisciplinary team to promote positive workplace culture, and promotion of community engagement via specialist mental health consultation to key partners within internal and external government, non-government and private agencies, care providers and families.
  • Participate in mental health promotion and community development activities with local level staff members. For example; undertake and initiate small discrete capacity building initiatives in the communities as part of community development work with local staff of the health centres.
  • Provide appropriate clinical documentation, including diagnostic formulation and case notes, and CIMHA data collection.
  • Participate in clinical supervision activities and quality assurance activities as per professional and QH policy.
  • Undertake professional development activities, professional supervision and work practice supervision.

The client is also willing to consider a Psychologist or Occupational Therapist for this role.

Key requirements:

  • AHPRA registration or AASW
  • Valid Australian Drivers Licence and own car
  • Have the necessary checks or be willing to obtain.
